National Signing Day is upon us, which may or may not be good news for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. After watching several recruits jump ship over the past two weeks, seeing those letters of intent finally signed will be a huge relief for the program, assuming no one else chooses another route.
Damon Mitchell is currently the talk of the town. The four-star quarterback recently made a trip to Arkansas to check out Bret Bielema’s operation, and as Otis Kirk of Hawgs247 noted, Mitchell loved the visit.
Paul Johnson and his staff certainly don’t love hearing one of their commits is looking at other schools, but they aren’t revoking the scholarship offer. Mitchell is set to make his final decision at 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
Running back Donovan Wilson already started taking classes at Tech, so we can safely say he’s locked in. That leaves 12 other recruits with verbal commitments at this point in time. Five players are still being targeted by the Jackets.
Four-star athlete Cornelius Elder will not be making his decision tomorrow, so you can stop worrying about him for now. After receiving a basketball offer from Purdue, he’s weighing his options about which sport he’ll choose. Still, Tech is the front-runner.
Kingsley Opara did not make a trip to Atlanta, so it’s hard to imagine he’ll break his lengthy commitment to Maryland to choose a school he hasn’t even visited. Lastly, George Adeosun is all over the news lately with several BCS schools now vying for the four-star offensive tackle. Tech’s chances are slim here.
