Video: Johnson talks Groh

Al Groh Relieved Of Duties - Paul Johnson ...

Georgia Tech head coach Paul Johnson speaks on relieving Al Groh of his duties as the Yellow Jackets' defensive coordinator and other topics.

  • I watched the interview. It was as expected. A head coach can only say so much about a situation such as this. I am glad to know that we have four assistants on the defensive side who have been defensive coordinators in the past. If Kelly is adept in communications, then he will probably let everyone have their input and then the defensive assistants will probably set an agreement on the path to take.

The proof is in the pudding! We can only sit back and see how things go on defense for the remainder of the year. It is a fact that a big problem in one area of the team can affect other aspects of the team. For instance, a poor defense makes the offense nervous because they feel they have to score on each possession. They play tight and it affects the entire offense. My hope is the defense will be better, and then the other areas will also improve a little.

Be ye not deceived, God is not mocked, whatsoever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

  • I've heard good things about Kelly from folks I know in coaching. As well as can be expected, the defense is in good hands for the rest of the year.
