Hey guys. There has been a lot of discussion on our boards about conference expansion with the B1G. I was just curious what you guys think about possibly moving to a new conference. Personally, I would love to see you guys come into the conference. Are you guys still running the triple option in football?
We are both atheists. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours
We run the "spread option" with the triple option being a play we run a decent amount (maybe ~30% of the time?). I'm not thrilled with the idea of going to the B1G. I like college football because of the rivlaries and tradition. Nothing against the B1G teams, but I could careless about games against OSU, Mich, Iowa, Wisc, MSU, etc. As I'm sure y'all wouldn't be thrilled with switching to the ACC and having games against FSU, Clemson, VT, Miami, GT, UNC, Duke, etc. There's just no history behind those games. There's no hatred/rivalry. The road trips would just be obnoxious - to the point that it would be hard to even make more than 1 per season.
I think Tech is a good fit for the B1G - the ACC and y'all and pretty much the only conferences who value academics at all when making decisions. And the Atlanta market is a big one even if Tech doesn't own it. I just see the potential move as benefitting checkbooks at the expense of players and fans.
