Tuitt is a Jacket!

Weird thread with a lot of conversations so I picked a football related on eto respond to, if you want to argue about grad school or calculus move on...

Cross will strart at DE, he was our best player on the line last year, beyond that I think Tuitt is in a battle with Peters, which I think could go alot of ways, but mostly I think all three will be in there a good bit along with Dieke. That is your two deep imo. If Tuitt lives up to the hype he is playing the majority of the snaps, maybe even sliding into the middle in pass situations.

At LB I think some things are up in the air. Burnett is our top returner there but imo he is no lock to start. From what I have heard Sylvester will be playing inside again and I think Jabari will have as good of chance to play as Tuitt, his guy to beat out is Burnett, if he can. Either way I think they all play a lot with Nealy as the fourth ILB.

Outside - Watts and Attachou which makes us much more athletic than last year, playing better in space will help us limit big plays and in the passing game (Where 41 and Sylvester were horrid)

Secondary - Young Sweeting Ayers at corner (Great battle), Johnson Holton Reid at safety with Jemea Thomas as a wildcard, will be interesting to see how he is used.

NT - I have no clue what will happen but hope someone can establish themselves.

Pretty good assessment. NT I think you will have Walls and Barnes start out the year with Green coming in and taking away more and more snaps from one of the first two.

If you don't know where you are, any road will take you there.

    LB.

What about situations where we need the MLB to cover pass routes? Jefferson absolutely sucked at this his whole career. Never got better. Who's gonna be our cover guy in the middle? JHD?

ps. Having J. Thomas back on kick coverage will be HUGE for ST. He was a beast as a freshman and was sorely missed last year.

Sylvester was terrible in coverage as well.

Drummond is supposed to get a look at MLB this spring. He played both ways in HS school and his defensive position was LB. Maybe his speed and size will pay off on the D side of the ball. I doubt he makes the 2 deep at B-back. He may, however, become a short yardage/goaline specialist.

Seems like his would be a better fit for OLB, physically that is?? 6-3 236 per the 2010 roster. For perspective Sylvester is 6-2 238. Maybe the difference b/t ILB and OLB isn't that much. I just imagine him being faster than your typical ILB which I equate to an OLB.

Of course, measurables such as size don't always translate to beastly performances...Ebuniwe and Barnes are a good example, both are 6-3 and around 245. Sounds nasty but Ebuniwe played very weak and I don't recall ever seeing Barnes even on the field!

  • Can we erase this thread?

Talk about the rich getting richer! I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that ND already had a pretty bangin class without Tuitt.
