supposedly, ealey has been dismissed from the mutts. haven't seen anything official myself, but it's out there. he's been on the outs and his relationship with richt has soured tremendously. especially with the royal treatment of crowell in athens as of late.
ealey was in the boro a few weeks ago with other recruits hanging out. rumor mill's rampant he might be an eagle. hmmmm, i hope CJM vets this well! he could be a helluva back at southern. but, he's gotta come in with a TEAM attitude. this might get interesting . . .
southern's already picked up an ole miss transfer who was a stud fullback in HS but wasn't used much last year as masoli took the reins at QB. the starting B-back last year was a true freshman who's bona fide. man, amazing what happens when you get your program back on the map!

It seems official. Nothing to do with Crowell, however. He's been butting heads with the S&C staff over there concerning changes. He apparently was in the doghouse (no pun intended) and was assigned to run steps one morning as punishment. He allegedly missed it. He was then given a "make-up" session. He allegedly missed that too. This is apparently the third time he's pulled a stunt like this, on top of some other stuff (hit and run typed things). Not sure what the deal is. Free story on one of the mutt sites says simply that he's "suspended". Which to me, means he'll have a chance to get his head straight and rejoin the team or say F'it and leave. Sounds like this has less to do with Crowell, and more about him having a hissy fit, or at least that's the rumor(s) that has been floating around for a while now.
He very well may choose to transfer, but its one of those timeless questions, do you take an alleged attitude problem (again alleged, I don't know the man) who is a tremendous talent hoping that a change does him well?

plus, you don't like reading this, i suppose, in the ajc.com from steve hummer with regards to a crowell visit to athens:
"That next morning Mark Richt — the coach who takes stoicism to new frontiers, the one so criticized for his lack of sideline showmanship — staged an elaborate production for Crowell’s benefit.
The 18-year-old and his family were shown to Richt’s new office, overlooking the recently completed indoor practice facility. As they visited, the Crowells noticed activity down below. Players began filing onto the practice field.
“We got up and looked out,” said Debbie Crowell, Isaiah’s mother. “I didn’t know what was going on, but Isaiah could tell that they were getting into formation. And there wasn’t a tailback.”
The stage was set. Richt escorted the family down to the field. Crowell was handed a Georgia jersey — No. 1 on the back — and a helmet and asked if he wanted to take that empty spot in the backfield. Debbie Crowell remembers Richt painting the scene of next season’s opener against Boise State, asking her son if he could see himself in that jersey and helmet, behind that offensive line, starting his career in the din of the Georgia Dome.
“Yes, sir, I can,” Isaiah said.
“My baby was excited. He was ready to go,” Debbie said.
It was official: The hunt for a difference-making running back had turned the staid Richt into P.T. Barnum.
You know the rest."
If GT football doesn't win at least 8 games with a victory over UGA next year, we need to start considering the post-Paul Johnson era.

Then I'm sure CPJ had a few tricks up his sleeve for Vad Lee. I know in the preseason scrimmage all the other recruits were on the sideline, yet Vad was standing next to CPJ behind the huddle and CPJ would occasionally put his arm around him/discuss things with him/and do things that made him laugh. (Not the I know what was said, but I am sure he was playing to his ego a little bit)

it's official that he's been "indefinitely suspended" now. in other words, he's done barring crowell gets hit in the head by a meteorite this afternoon.
as for learning curve, what's the difference between what ealey would have to go through and what dwyer went through when CPJ came in? southern started a true freshman B-back last year who'd never played in this offense. he got hurt and CJM had to call on a backup who was adequate but not a homerun threat by any stretch. southern was perilously low in stock on B-backs last year. they need bodies! suffice it to say what ealey might lack in initial understanding of the O he can certainly make up for with athleticism.
besides, does southern wanna see him at app state or another FCS rival?

funny how richt talks of the "georgia way". are you kidding me? what does ealey have to do to be in good standing? run over a pedestrian next time he drives with a suspended license? knock off a liquor store? :)
i think richt's none to pleased ealey's been hanging out in the 'boro lots. i'd heard ealey had been down to check out the scene, but i was unaware just how much he'd been down here. according to a player i talked to yesterday he's been down numerous times.
