ACC media at the ACC Kickoff in Pinehurst, NC have picked Georgia Tech to finish fourth in the Coastal Division.
"We don't pay much attention to the preseason polls, whether we are picked high or low," head coach Paul Johnson pointed out. "In the end, you have to do it on the field."
The scribes chose perennial power Virginia Tech to win the Coastal Division and touted Florida State to win the Atlantic Division in a landslide. Florida State is predicted to win the ACC Championship
Boston College running back Montel Harris was chosen the preaseason ACC player of the year followed by FSU quarterback E.J. Manuel who is entering the season as the Seminoles starting signal caller for the first time. Harris tallied 26 votes to Manuel’s 14.
The Jackets did not have a player who received a preseason vote for player of the year.
